Banijay buys Squeezie’s "Stop the Train" concept
Sommaire

The worlds of digital entertainment and traditional television keep merging. Banijay Entertainment, the global audiovisual production giant, has just announced the acquisition of the worldwide rights to the “Stop The Train” concept, created by France’s top YouTuber, Squeezie.

It’s a new milestone for Lucas Hauchard, aka Squeezie. After breaking audience records on YouTube with ever more ambitious formats, his original concept “Stop The Train” (who will manage to stop the train?) is leaving the rails of the web for an international career across all screens.

A concept born on YouTube, built for TV

Launched in September 2025 on Squeezie’s channel, “Stop The Train” is a big-budget adventure game (estimated at 700,000 euros for the original episode). The principle is simple but ruthless: 10 content creators board a moving train. To reach the locomotive and stop the convoy, they must cross each car by completing physical and strategic challenges. The last person in each car is eliminated, stuck on the train while the others move forward.

Directed by Théodore Bonnet and produced by Unfold Production (Squeezie’s company), this format impressed with its visual quality and dramatic tension, worthy of the biggest broadcast shows on TV or streaming platforms.

Banijay: the ambition of a global rollout

Banijay Entertainment didn’t get it wrong. The group, which already owns behemoths like Koh-Lanta, Fort Boyard and Big Brother, sees in “Stop The Train” a “strong potential for large-scale development”.

The goal: adapt the format for different countries and perhaps offer it to traditional broadcasters or SVOD platforms (Netflix, Prime Video, etc.). James Townley, chief content officer at Banijay, highlighted the project’s “originality and competitive intensity”, capable of winning over a young audience while respecting the codes of premium television.

It remains to be seen which country will be the first to adapt the concept and whether a “celebrity” or “general public” version will soon appear on our TV screens. One thing is certain: Squeezie’s train is not about to pull into the station.
