Hugo Travers, better known as HugoDécrypte, is teaming up with France 5 to launch “En Tension”, an ambitious documentary series that explores the fractures of our contemporary society.
After winning over millions of followers on social media with his breakdowns and his interviews of public figures (including the President of the Republic), Hugo Travers is taking a new step in his career as a journalist and producer. With his production company HugoDécrypte, he is preparing to deliver a long, immersive format for public broadcasting.
A journey into the heart of friction zones
The series, titled “En Tension”, aims to be a deep dive into territories where societal, political and environmental issues reach breaking point. Far from the short, fast-paced format of the “Actus du jour”, Hugo Travers takes the time here for investigation and encounters.
The project isn’t limited to French borders. Hugo and his teams traveled the globe to document complex realities:
- In the United States: From Minneapolis, epicenter of racial and social tensions, to Texas, to tackle questions of borders and identity.
- Across Europe and beyond: The series aims to highlight global issues through local, human lenses.

While Hugo Travers had already made a name for himself with documentaries on YouTube (notably on the ocean and climate issues), his arrival on France 5 marks institutional recognition of his method. His educational, neutral and direct approach, which built his success with younger generations, is now adapting to the demands of high-end television documentary.
For France Télévisions, this collaboration is strategic. It helps rejuvenate the channel’s audience while offering quality content, in tune with current concerns about geopolitical and social crises.
